I use it a lot but troll with plastics. One thing I’ve found is that there isn’t much of it needed. I use enough for the profile I want and not make it too bushy. I’ve been using one and kept getting bit and little by little , the hairs get broken off. 6 or 7 hairs left and it still caught fish.

I love fishing those jigs. As locator79 said most call them kip tails. I tie them very sparse with very little hair and tip them with a crappie nibbles. I like to troll them very slowly or drift them. I place them under a float a lot of times depending on the depth. I like green and white. pink and white or red and white.

I use them a lot in very cold water or after a cold front. Subdued action for me.

To be honest, I've seen nothing that a crappie won't hit! (Thank goodness!)

You obviously have never fished with me. I have a box full of such things.
