Is Your Stick Steering Boat Easy to Steer?

Use a 4 blade prop and the sideways torque of the motor will be gone and steering will be neutral. I love my 16 ft SS.

I’ll have to give that a try, my PF16 torques pretty hard. My next boat (if there is one) will be a hydraulic stick steer, maybe with the wheel. I’ve got a bum left shoulder, it almost meant finding a different boat. But I pulled the livewell out (other reasons) and that allowed me to move the drivers seat back about 4 inches. That made all the difference in the world for my shoulder, not to mention some much appreciated extra legroom.

Mine is a Tracker, I really like the layout better than anything else I’ve seen. And I don’t get the rough ride that many talk about. Of course I fish mainly small water or rivers and creeks and don’t make long runs in rough water.

I never really use the live well in mine and the extra room would be nice.

I bought a used Lowe’s stick steer with a 40 Mercury and absolutely could not turn it left...honestly thought I would break the stick lever. Here’s what I did to remedy the problem.
Moved the steering linkage out from the middle hole to the outside hole on the connection to the motor.
Moved the steering tab all the way to the right (did this first and did not help)
Raised the motor up one hole.
She runs and steers absolutely perfect now. The guy I bought it from said the place where he bought it told him that’s normal Lowe’s sets up thousands of them. Shout out to Matt at Central Georgia Marina for being willing to try anything to solve this problem.
