They certainly are! You want loud? Try a local ORI (Readiness inspection) when the base scrambles the entire alert shacks. We’re talking tankers and Buffs. The roar of about 72(!) jet engines full bore down the runway has to be seen and heard to be appreciated. All done in minutes. We use to get calls from MILES away. Memories....amazing those old birds are still flying.
