    ET is right!
This is us on Saginaw Bay. We also fish Lake Erie and the Detroit River with similar results, in fact most of us over on the Michigan forum are avid Walleye guys who put Eyes in the livewell.

We rented a house on Pelee Island in Lake Erie which is just over the border but I'd look around Sandusky ,Ohio area. Erie is loaded with SMbass, Walleye, and Perch.
We caught most of ours trolling crankbaits and jigging jigs over glacial ridges.

I would recommend Lake Vermilion near Cook/Tower, MN. Been going there for 35 years. Great family vacation spot. Lake can fish large or small. Bass, walleye, pike, muskie, big gills and crappie. Tons of great resorts with varying accomodations. One of the plusses is that all hazards are marked with buoys, making navigation relatively carefree! PM me if you have more specific questions. The drive from
N IL is about 10 hours. From StL area where I am can be done in 15.
