Got'a start somewhere. Stay with it.
Believe it or not, I just caught my first intentional crappie yesterday. I've caught a few others before, but not when specifically targeting them. No...I'm unfortunately not 10 years old...I'm just a late starter to Crappie fishing.
Big thanks to a random guy named Jim who asked me how I was doing (which wasn't great...all small bluegill, no crappie or slab bluegill) and then told me a better place to go, then followed me across the lake and got me in the spot and gave me some simple pointers to end the day on a positive note.
I know this isn't rocket science, and many on here have caught crappie in the thousands.... but for me yesterday was a very exciting fish #1. I'm heading out on the lake again today (70 degrees today!) to brave the rain with my 6 year old to hopefully have some good success. If my kid gets his first Crappie today, I'll post a pic.

Tell'em I'll be there.
My first one seemed international because catching crappie was so foreign to me Congrats on your first, and hoping your kid gets one soon too!
You are now officially hooked! No pun intended.
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
Welcome from Bartlett, TN- You are in for a great ride, enjoy.
Excellent!
Knowing where they usually are sure helps a lot with your success
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
Great post. I remember two crappie I've caught. The last crappie I caught with my Dad and the first crappie I caught dock shooting. Stay after it. I have two sons. One I couldn't pay to go and the other would hide in the live well to get to go. May have to do with I had my patience incheck and could at least find some fish when my younger son came of age to fish regularly. If you get to searching for information Google "crappie by degrees" by Scout. Rocket science ain't rocket science to a rocket scientist. I'm glad to see your investing your boys future.
