    Default The Simple Things

Sometimes i feel rather fortunate to be on the bank angling . The simple things in life are often forgotten . Feet planted on a rock or in the grass at the waters edge can be quite good therapy . To pitch my jig out and watch the ducks and other wildlife go about business and have a huge snapper ease up to the surface and float by you is good stuff.
I watched a really large lethargic snapper yesterday up on top just floating near me , it was in the 25 to 30 lb. range for sure and we watched each other for a good bit . I think the splashing of fish might have attracted it close to me ,but no matter what brought it so close it was really neat to view it .
The other things you might be fortunate enough to see are endless from a perch on the waters edge , so remember this when you have the chance to go chase some fish . Technology is fun to play with and helps locate and ketch fish , but to be just as sure the simple things in life might pass you by . In the end for me it isn't just about ketchn lots of fish or lots of big fish or who got more or who won or how nice the equipment they have is . I understand we are all cut from different cloth and that makes it interesting for sure ,but its best if you don't let it define you as an outdoors person .
Let your simple side out a bit from time to time and find your roots is my thought. Its mighty fun to be where you started out as a fisher person .
Stay tuned as i might keep going the simple route more often than not . From a boat or the grass or the dock or a rock its all good to me .
To be sure keeping it simple has its rewards yawl

Hangin with Mother Nature is awesome, some people dont appreciate it. Trashed areas prove this. That bluegill you caught is a beauty! Thanx for the pic!

I remember many shorebound trips from my youth. It was a challenge to find somewhere to fish and have nothing get in the way. Now, what gets in the way has changed. Knees, lower back, shoulders are all suspect and have to catch myself now and then. Standing on a rock is no time to catch yourself. Therefore I’ve had to adjust. My outings still leave me happy and ready to go next time, and that’s the point. Kaboom brother, fish on!

Great post and thoughts from everyone. I think one reason I love wade fishing is that it does simplify the time on the water. My vest only has the essentials; I have eliminated the rest. With age I can’t cover as much on the stream as I use to, but that’s OK. I like the solitude and putting aside all of the bad news of today.
