    Default Z18 vs Z19 Nitro

    Hello All,

I am currently on my 2nd boat that I have owned. It is a 2013 Crestliner 17ft Aluminum. It has been a good boat but my family and I are outgrowing it. Me, my wife and our 2 boys (6 and 11) go fishing just about every week and during the week when we can.

I am currently looking at a Z-18 150hp and a Z-19 200hp. Other than the motor will a big difference be noticed with the extra 8 inches? The Z-18 is 18'8 the Z-19 is 19'4.

One reason I want to move to a glass boat is stability. With my current boat you can feel every step someone takes on the boat. Also the wind can blow it around pretty easily. I think with upgrading to a bigger glass boat this won't be as much of an issue. A couple Sundays ago I went with a friend out on his Z-19 and it was night and day difference.

I guess my biggest question is will there be a noticeable difference in stability/wind with the Z-18 over the Z-19. Anyone gotten a Z-18 and wished they had got the Z-19? Thanks in advance. Just looking for opinions and knowledge. Thank you!

Jeff said glass boats dont blow around as much. As far as walking around my 19' alum is 8ft wide, I can walk all over and not bother anyone, shakes my poles a lil though.
I just looked briefly at the pics, neither look fun for 4 growing people. I dont see much need for the extra inches and I would prefer a 150 to save some fuel over the 200. If I was paying cash I'd cheap out, if making payments I bet those extra inches are only a few more bucks. Are the compartments better in one or the other?

Glass will be easier to handle in the wind.
I’d go 200 hp, keep your foot out of it, you have economy and power when needed.
Are they both 4 stroke? 4 stroke is the way to go. Way better mileage.
Extra 8 isn’t going to matter, IMHO.

First thing I would do is measure length and width of front deck. That’s where your going to spend most of your time. Remember this, those boys aren’t going to be that size very long. So you and 2 good sized buys going to take up a lot of room up there. Especially if you plan to rig for spider rigging with depth finder and trolling motor.

Sounds like you want the Z19 and will regret getting the Z18. Get the bigger, you won't go wrong.

Buy once , cry once. Get what you want the first time , otherwise you’ll regret it.

If I'm spending other people's money why not get the ZV19. Go with the 225.

Also in the year of covid 19 I think you have remind people that 19 is a good number.....
