    Default New Longer Rod Wanted

Has anyone tried the Berkley Lightening Rod Trout 8' UL? I want a little longer rod for vertical jig fishing and have always had good luck with the Berkley Rods.. Would like to hear comments and reviews if possible.. Thanks in advance..

I don't own it, but the reviews I have seen say it is a very soft action rod designed to cast dough bait for trout. I'm not sure that would fit your needs.

ACC Crappie Stix has some great 8' & 10' rods. Good backbone to swing a fish in the boat but still super sensitive. I am normally a cheap person but found them well worth the money after getting my hands on some.

Check out the line up of B n' M rods at Grizzly Jig. They have some truly fine jigging rods. The 7' Sam Heaton Super Sensitive is a prime example. I don't believe that you will do well with super soft UL for jig fishing. Those work well for float or crankbait fishing, but do not lend themselves well to jigging. JMO!

If you like Berkeley rods, look at the “C series” rods. I picked up two 9 footers at Academy a couple years ago and they are very nice rods, just wish they were a bit longer. I use them for vertical jogging paired up with a couple of cheap, small, baitcast reels.
