Default Opinion needed on Garmin Echomap 93

I am sure that I will be buying a new Garmin Echomap93 on March 12th at Bass Pro when the sale starts. My question is they have a 2020 model listed for $1049 and on the back page they have a 2019 model for $599. The new one is ultra HD . Is the new one worth the extra $ 450 ?? Is this something that needs to be installed by a pro? They also have a $200 rebate on the Livescope transducer that I plan on getting. Thanks !

Reports are the UHD has somewhat better SI and DI than the non- UHD ...

If SI and DI are important (and you don’t already have acceptable SI and DI in another unit) the UHD is a good value because it UHD is built in to the unit and it comes with the UHD xducer ...

If the unit is only going to be used for LiveScope then the UHD is a moot point ...

The plus model is discontinued, even though still available. I just bought the 93 sv with live scope and it is pretty sweet.Name: E2209168-B655-41A2-B60A-8445C8FCE96F.jpg

I'd call Brian at BBG Marine before I bought anything, and then decide.

You might find, like I did, that LiveScope was my only concern but Garmin makes such a good unit I would go with the UHD so you can expand your options. I believe the enhanced SI and DI allowed me to really use the unit. Not only that but when I upgraded the chart I was able to better use LS. Just my two cents...

There is no doubt that the $599 price makes the 93sv the best VALUE in a 9 inch screen with side imaging, maps, and LS capable.

Will the 93sv and LS be your ONLY units on the boat? Tell us how you plan to set it up and you may get some better advice. I have two cradles/bail mounts so i can move my 93sv from the helm to the bow to use with LS.
