Default Run and Gun ...tip of the week

A quick tip for the crew here , go frequently to spots that produced in the past during the spawn for you . The fish come and go fast and you might just stumble up on a herd at first light and or right at dark .
I hit 3 lakes 100 miles apart in 24 hours myself and was pinched on time and had 2 other lakes on my radar and couldn't swing those into my time loop .
The spot that was dead as a door nail last week might be on fire next visit . So as we say down here in turkey hunting , run and gun ….keep moving and looking …
keep your hooks sharp and your rod and floats handy , fresh line is also a good idea as you never know when BERTHA will hammer your jig .
the spawn is feast or famine and to be sure if you wait for all the stars to line up you will miss a good bite somewhere along the way .
go often and don't stay long if they are not there is the thought here .
sometimes I rub folks the wrong way with my thoughts on how to and what to and I know I aint always right , but there are times WHEN I aint all that wrong as well .

I’m guilty of spending too much time in one spot, but I’m working on it! Great tip!

Yup, I see examples of "gun and run" every day on the lake with bass boats. Yesterday morning one was fishing about 50 feet from me when he suddenly lifted up his trolling motor and took off at high speed across the lake. Twenty minutes later he came back at high speed and started fishing down from me again. During that period I covered about 100 yards with my trolling motor, fished three stumps. I caught several fish during this period. I wonder how many fish he put in his boat with his speed runs up and down the lake.

You are great at catching Ketchn but you need to slow down and fish the area before you move on.

Any day I'm fishing is a good day, regardless of what I catch.

I have one lake to fish within an hours drive. From there it is 30 minutes to another. From there it is 2.5 hours to another. I can't run and gun. I can however move to different parts of the lake.
New Mexico does not give two flips for crappie. Here it is trout, trout and more trout. If it wasn't for the quail and dove hunting, I would move. But, I can buy a license in other states to fish and find a spot. I can't get close to smelling a place to hunt in Texas.

Wild trout are fun to catch and good eating. The only thing I miss about living in El Paso is my monthly weekend trips to fish for wild rainbow trout in New Mexico.

A wet jig catches several more fish than a dry one..... easiest way to improve your catch is keeping that jig wet....
