Spent last year with my drop shot rod trying to catch crappie, I Wanted some dedicated gear this year. So I purchased a TFO panfish 6’ UL with a pflueger president 6920 reel. Not having much experience with anything smaller than a 2500 size reel, I’m getting wind knots bad. I’ve first tried nanofil 4# and it kept tangling under the spool so I put 4# mono on and it wraps around the lower part of the spool. So the question, should I return the reel for the same size or go with the next size up? Thanks for the guidance.
I have at least 1/2 doz. rigs that I regularly use for crappie with from 7' - 9' rods. All of them are matched with $6920 Presidents. All of them are dressed with 2# test Fireline Crystal with a 4' fluorocarbon leader. No problems, no worries.

You can introduce line twist when spooling. Next time your on the lake, tie on a heavy weight and drop it over board, drive and unspool your pole. When you get toward the end, stop and reel it back up. This will take the twist out of the line.

Thanks for the help everyone, I will have to try and get any twist out. I like the tiny reel and rod combo but I’ll give it another try this week and if still the same I may go up a size in reel.
