    Default Trolling Motor Install

A friend just bought a Lowe Stryker 17, he is doing some upgrades and ordered an Ultrex 45" shaft. The original was a MG X3 42" shaft that mounted on the nose parallel with the "^".
The Ultrex sticks over the side WAY to far!! Even with it mounted forward as much as possible, honestly I don't even see being able to stow and deploy it as far as the head sticks over.

My question is, does the TM have to be as close to center "inline with the keel" as possible or can it be mounted to the left or right of the boat inline with the gunnel and it not cause any issues with operational aspects?

Hard for me to explain even though I know what you are asking.
I don’t like my head unit sticking out further than the inside of the gunnel.
Don’t think you will have any problems if you angle it inward. I also like the front of the mount even with the front edge of the V.
    Just hard to explain.

As long as it is not grossly off center it should not matter.

Here's mine stowed and deployed. Its an Ipilot so the motor has to extend over the bow. Placing it at an angle helps keep it out of harms way plus it places the long shaft across the front instead of sticking back in the way of things.
It is not necessarily to have the motor mounted at very front of bow. Mine tracks fine where it is. Most important is to make sure your outboard is pointing forward or it will affect how your boat tracks.

I have mine mounted about 10 inches or so left of point of bow, and mounted parallel to center line of boat. I’m going to post a not very good picture but if you look forward you can see how it lays stowed. I have never had a problem with it tracking straight and it keeps entire motor inside boat.

I think we got it figured out, thanks for the replies fellas!!
Worked out similar to Cray's but a tad more angle to it, once deployed it is on 6-8" off center and the head is still flush with the gunnel out of harms way.
