Is it mainly deep water fishing? That would definitely cut down on the driving!

The main lake is very deep but there are many creeks that are great. KYFISHMAN on here lives on the lake I believe and can give you more info. I spent a week there last year and loved every minute of it.

Keep your eye on this website chart : Lake Cumberland Water Level

As you can see, during March of the last two years the lake was flooded & falling fast ... may not be quite as bad this year
But, generally Spring pre-spawn fishing at Cumberland is fishing the flooded trees back in the creeks. And that all depends on how high the water is at that time, as to which "trees" are visible & in what depth of water.

You might also post a "help me" thread on the KY state forum, as there are a few members there that fish Cumberland & might provide you with more/better info.
