Default Any out there with hip issues? Had injections?

About 3 weeks ago my right hip started killing me. I've know for a few years it was showing arthritis and would have to be dealt with eventually. I find myself right on the start of my guide season and really can't consider replacement until the fall. Having had both knees replaced and lumbar fusion surgery all in the last 3 years, I know the drill.

My Dr recommended I have the x-ray assisted injection directly into my hip joint. I had that done Friday AM and the dread was very much worse than the actual procedure. 24 hours later after a full day of doing nothing per Dr orders, I'm feeling some relief but not nearly as much as I'd like. For those of you who might have had this injection procedure, how long did it take before you felt maximum relief and how long did it last?

I know this isn't exactly what you asked for but I have had 2 injections in my right shoulder. They have been no help for me, but my shoulder has no cartilage at all left in it. I won't have another injection. Maybe your hip will fare better.

I had it done twice before my replacement. Took me about 2 days to feel maximum impact. As for how long it will last, everyone absorbs the material at a different rate. About two weeks was my average relief time. Everyone is different though.

I only have knees, hope that’s all I have to replace. Hoping for the best for you! Sending up prayers that the shots get you through the season!

Had several injections.....did not help. Had the hip replaced and it was a piece of cake. Was launching boat and fishing 6 weeks and one day after the surgery. Was only in hospital for 1.5 days. Would have gone home same day had I not been on blood thinners. Up walking 2 hours after surgery and the pain I had was completely gone. I’ve had a knee replaced and was dreading the hip as I thought the pain would be the same. I can’t stress enough just how easy it was. Changed my life....I had been suffering with it for years. If my other hip goes bad today I would tell them let’s replace it right now.

    Regards

I haven't had it but have family members that had hip replacements and they say the same thing. Amazing when you think about it!

Sound like a health insurance ploy to put off total hip replacement as long as possible. I have had double total hip myself it's rough but I no longer hurt like before I had it. It's bad when insurance companies tell the Doctors what to do. Just think what would happen if the Government ever gets to decide how there free to all medicare would be if that ever happened.

I’ve had 4 rotator cuff surgeries on my right shoulder from work injury. My left shoulder is arthritic so I have both injected every 10 weeks. I rarely get less than 7-8 weeks of total relief from those. My knees were similar when they were injected prior to replacement. I’m hoping my body chemistry is such I’ll get long-term relief. There is zero way I can even consider hip replacement before late fall. I won’t wait one minute longer when the time gets here.

M R Dux—go get your hips replaced! I waited too long and had continual pain. Replaced both knees first then both hips. Hips were a walk in the park compared to the knees. Hip replacement has become almost ho hum as they really have the procedures down. Minimal downtime and back to fishing before you know it. Blessings on your decision.

If the dr hits the right spot, the stuff works. I had shots for years in knees, hips, shoulder, foot and back. Old injuries came back to haint me. I am now bionic.

Brenda and I go every 3 months for xray guided back injections. Drs steer away from back surgery because of our length of time above ground.
