Yep, we are finding a similar pattern in Central Texas. The thump is pronounced, the fish big and hungry, but depart shortly after 6, or so, are caught. Some have minimally developed eggs.

were the fish yesterday . and difficult to ketch when you did get a bite . Sk needs to bring that there how to lactate crappie information with him next visit so we can milk a few out of that lake is my thought .
but all kidding around aside it has been a rough go for a few weeks now . you might stumble in on a bite and hammer a few nice fish in a row and then there they go .
and its really not easy to decide what bait or what color or what depth or what spot .
and the darn bass seem to be there more often than not as well .
some of the fish hit it like so hard it hurts your wrist and some were so light you didn't know it was bite . not sure whats going on there but the lake is really low compared to last year this time and the fish are WAY less cooperative .
have not seen signs of any of the fish looking spawnish and we about 30 days away from the start if it is like last year at all .
will try to keep going over weekly and see if it gets better , but to be sure dinner aint easy to find under them docks right now .
most of the crappie were tight to the bottom and jig movement was a no no . a slight rise sometimes enticed a bite if it was done so slow it hurt . the fish stayed in about 13 to 15 fow best I could tell and I managed my largest fish on that visit on my smallest jig .I only managed to ketch 12 crappie and 4 bass total .
I did lose a good fish struggling to get it between the boat and the dock and one more that wrapped up under the dock and one that flat snapped my line .
it wasn't a stellar outing but it beat not ketchn by a good solid mile .
thanks again Ez for the invitation .
when we doubled on buck bass right at dark in the cold we said that is for sure enough of this

The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
we also dropped a tarp on the outside of the walkway during this episode I might mention in an effort to darken the areas we like to hang brush and set out condos …..

Moving the green light to the back of the slip appears to have helped a little at night in this low water condition at the lake. Caught a few after dark at the edge of the light until it became too cold for me to stay outside. Also starting to see a few bass swimming in the light now that the light is in a little deeper water.

Any day I'm fishing is a good day, regardless of what I catch.

one thing I did notice was small got bit lots better than larger profiles
