Stay here on Crappie.com a lot....and go fishing with your friend every chance you get.
I sold my boat in December after a lot of thought. I will miss the one on one with the crappie and trying to out wit them. My wife didn't like me fishing by my self, and that is what I loved . Haven't missed it much and it had gotten to the place I only used it 4 or 5 times a year. What I will miss is the feeling of being guest in God's world.I have fond memories of feeling like everything was perfect, regardless of whether I caught fish or not. There was always the feeling that all of it was made just for me. I have a friend that promises to take me fishing when the notion strikes. Still not the same because we are in his boat and I am the guest, he is the captain. It had gotten to the place my boat was deteriorating the longer it set in the driveway. Getting older now, but the memories are still vivid. I still love this sport , so you guys keep fishing and relating your experiences, I can relate to it. Thanks for making an old guys day.

Wishing you much happiness. Take the friend up on his offer from time to time. It's still going to be fun. I'm able to go by myself but enjoy a good partner too. My wife gives me the getting to old for fishing alone speech, think she just likes to get under my skin sometimes LOL This past Sunday and Monday [ hookey from work but I own the place] I fished with 2 different guys. 1 each day. enjoyed the "tall tales".
Hope you go with your friend and post happy fishing reports here.

Yes, go fishing with your friend. You'll create a whole new set of memories
Don't discount bank fishing. I fished from the shore for years and was often very successful. I got to know lakes with brushpiles that were accessible from the banks. Some even in 20+ feet of water

Hmmm
Just wondering at what age is a person to old to go. My wife thinks that fishing helps keep a person young. She likes going more than I do but she is still young.
As to the age I am 82 and sure get tired easy.
ezgoing thanked you for this post
Go fishing every chance you get.
There's a bunch of us older guys who fish bridges often and we always enjoy talking to each other and enjoy catching crappie.
Be careful and enjoy being together outside on the water.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!
IMA old. Someone will have to pull the pole out of my cold stiff hands.

Take up the offer to fish with friend. It will make memorable times. Even though your not captain.
I don't have a boat now, mine is a work in progress.
I fish with a great guy he's around 70 am 54 yrs. young. I'll be tight lining 6 rods at back with no holders , while he's casting baits. I'll hook up on 3-4 rods all of the sudden at say 8 ft. Then tell him fish are at this depth ,so we need to stay at that depth. He'll be casting and we end up in 2 ft. of water by this time all my rigs are up. And I'm eating a sandwich. He'll look at me and say you tired of fishing I'll smile and say taking a lunch break while in 2 ft. of water. The camaraderie to and from lake is a plus to, for me. Fishing in my opinion is more than wetting a hook. Keep on Fishing!
Sorry to hear that. One thing to look at is some lakes have boat rentals. That way you do not have to have a boat rotting in the yard and you can still be the captain. If you want to fish, you fish, if you want to just drive, then just drive!! Hang in there brother.
