I use clear nail polish myself . the cheap dollar store kind .
and have done some tips with real bright colors of nail polish .
of course there are better ways that cost more I am sure .
but I tear them up faster than one can fix them most of the time

I recently did eight of my spider rigging rods. I used bright yellow Scotch Electrical tape running the strips longways up and down the rod.
I typically do mine every three years or so to keep them nice and bright and easy to see.
This year I did 'em after doing my maintenance on all of my rod and reels.

I’m honestly looking to paint mine in a water based glow in the dark paint so I have to have something that will protect it all..
