I also meant to add at this time I do not have access to side imaging or livescope.
Hey guys. Still learning the behavior of Crappie. I was wondering if anyone could share some insight on how to locate these fish when on a new body of water with talking to a beginner in mind. Here is what I think I know about crappie....They are more shallow than normal in the spring and move deeper in the summer. The only success I have had is fishing under the lights on my home lake during the summer months. I have watched several videos on how to use the app to eliminate "dead" water but my question is, where do you start in the 4 seasons? What depths/contours are you fishing during the 4 seasons? I know that it all depends on the body of water, temp, etc....just looking for some pointers in locating these fish. Any advice (what has worked for you), any links to videos are welcome. Just trying to learn all that I can to become a better fisherman.
Thanks
Caleb

Thanks Slowhand...
G that was a good read and the most important thing that stood out to me was regardless of the season and water temp the common denominator was what the editor called cover or structure.... THAT is the key to my success, I stay on top of structure....I let the fish tell me what depth they want for that day as I've caught several fish in 40° water temp in 8fow on my home lakes.....
Clangford do you at least have 2D sonar or DI?
IMO unless you find a several change in depth that will hold crappie some kind of electronic is needed to find structure regardless of the contour.... If you don't have any electronics fan casting until you get bit or snag on some structure to locate it.... Structure is the key to consistently catch these fish......
I have a 2D sonar. Thanks for your info. I have subscribed to your channel and I will be watching some of your videos this evening. Thanks for all you do by sharing your info. It looks like you have quite a bit of info on your page. Again, thank you so much!

Depending on where you are , now may be a good time to find fish staging on ledges before the spawn.
Navionics can help there
