    Default Crappie Crazy

You know its funny but SK and myself along with a few others have seen an illness many times that is quite real and can be rather ugly .
I am not sure what the real name is but we refer to it as " Crappie Crazy "
People all to often lose what ever they have upstairs in the pursuit of these little fish .
The list of what they might do to try to ketch some is mind blowing .
Some threaten and some lie and some cheat and some steal .
Its amazing to us in many cases at the level folks will go to in an attempt to ketch them .
I often wonder myself as to how it becomes so fervent and off the charts .
The levels of desperation it can reach is often difficult to understand .
So when you are out and about trying to ketch crappie ,keep in mind this.....
manners will help you a lot more than not .
common sense is also a must as well .
and in the end it is possible to enjoy this resource in relative calm and peace .
Crappie Crazy is a real illness that effects many people every year .
it seems to really peak during the spawn, seasonally speaking btw
this post is not a joke either , the illness is REAL

HOW TRUE!!! Sad thing is manners and common sense seems to be getting harder to find now. It's all about "me" attitude.

I don't know if it is fair to call ill manners and the "me" attitude "crappy craziness" as it is even worse in those chasing bass. I blame it on too many being raised in the barn by the barn animals instead of their parents. Or maybe they were raised by their parents who were the ones raised by farm animals so the kids can not be blamed for their lack of manners.

Or is it unfair to blame farm animals, most of whom display better manners than I see on the lake most days.

Or am I just an old man living in the past and having trouble understanding current attitudes? This is a question I seem to be asking myself on a daily basis now.

Crazy is all relative. Most on this site fit in this category one way or the other. But this if for sure: Most fishermen and women i have me on the water are good people. They share the same craziness as we do and often will help or offer help out of the goodness of their heart. The day before Christmas Eve I was on our local lake and my batteries were dead (due to a broken wire I found out later). Not knowing what the problem was, a local guy gave me a circuit breaker to replace on the batteries. As i was getting it from him, another fisherman (a total stranger) pulled up next to my boat and "hopped in it" He went to the batteries and removed the circuit breaker and after a bit of checking he declared the batteries were dead. I had a friend with me and I was really embarrassed about my situation. Headed back to the house and took batteries out and saw the broken connection. We put on a new connector but the on board charger had not charged the batteries due to the broken wire. Headed to a local marine dealer and he did not have the batteries in stock but he had 2 from his own boat and gave them to me to use until after the holidays. Head back home, put the batteries in and everything is working. Head back to our spot and we caught 13 crappie in just a few hours. My friend in the boat with me was in total awe (as was I) of the kindness of fellow fishermen offering to help us out. And then the Marine dealer letting me borrow 2 batteries was icing on the cake. I was just blown away by everyone offering to help. Yes, we are all some kinda crazy, but in a wonderful kind of way though.
You can bet I will offer any help to anyone I see on the water. I have in the past and will continue to do so in the future.
