I will be the first to admit I do not expect to jump in to a new to me type anything and have anything but a learning curve, If you do, your in for a big let down. Do I expect back lashes, bird nests, and messes that take some figuring out how to get undone??? the answer to the above is all the same answer...a resounding Yes...
Now that being said, I don't believe, even though I might have missed it, the question was...what would be a good line to use, for a beginner, on a level wind/ bait casting reel??? I will probably casting and drop shooting, or I think as Crappy Pappy called it down casting...drop to the bottom and reel up.
