Default Line for Spider Rigging Senna 2500 Spinning Reels

Switching to spinning reels for my spider rigging 14' Southern Crappie Rods. Fishing Taylorsville Lake Ky, Green River KY. KY and Barkely as well a Weiss Guntersville AL' Fish minnows and jigs with these rods. I need input for what lb test line and if I should go mono or braid.

    Your reccommendations woud be appreciated.

Either works for me, but braid will last much longer than mono. I use 10# braid for my poles. With or without leader.

I despise braid for rigging due to line wraps around pole tips. I run 10 lb hi viz mono main line and clear mono rigs.

In my experience braid is far too unforgiving for rigging...tangles are worse, hang ups are worse and hard on rods. I use 10lb hi vis Vicious. Hi Vis Pline CX Premium would be my alternative.

I use two different lines.. I run 8lb slime line hi vis green and Berkeley sensation orange 8lb! They are both great lines and I use the two different colors for better visibility!

QT ... I'd stay in the 6-8lb test range. I use 6# Vicious copolymer hi-vis on my casting rods & 6# test clear mono for leaders on my Pushing rods (20-30# test main lines in mono & braid). Those leaders are of several different brands, but all 6# test. Sorry, I don't Spider Rig, but if I did it would likely be with mono or copolymer line in 6-8# test.

I use 10lb Power-Pro braid with a 8lb leader in mono or flouro. In the event I get hung up the leader breaks. I use 14ft Southern Crappie rods also and love them.

6-8 lb slime line controlled stretch monofilament. I like some stretch for when you hook a green carp or catfish. Stretch and the long poles will let you land some big fish.
