Kill switch for the trolling motor?
I always wondered if this was available.

Do you mind if I repost this on a different fishing forum? I'd appreciate it. Are kill switches readily available for trolling motors?

The water temp was about 38°F, after several attempts to get him back in the boat to no avail, they managed to tow him to shore hanging onto the side of the boat ,he was in the water about 8 min,it made me think about all the times I fish alone,in the winter in my kayak most often with the PFD hooked over the seat.
Two things I’ve gleaned from this,I need a kill switch on my trolling motor, and I need to invest in a much better PFD that is non intrusive to wear.

I can’t even remember where I purchased from. Bought it on sale and only thing I ever purchased there. It is a NRS Chinook pfd and if you google they are pretty popular and can be found many places. It has a high back which mean just mesh near lower back for seating in chair. Won’t ride/push up like traditional pfd.

I have seen mobbin outdoors on YouTube rig his kayak with a kill switch to battery. The battery controlled his trolling motor. The line went to a clip on the terminal and when pulled disconnected the power. Slightly different but worth considering.

I have been looking at float coats also. I had one years ago

I heard tell back when a lone fisher person fell inside the boathouse into the water in the winter and didn't survive it .
and I don't think the water was 38 at the time . it was crappie dock and she lived there on it and it was a sad day .
Some of you may know of the spot "peanuts" is the name of the place .
did the man survive or did his major organs shut down .
sometimes I hear about this stuff and even though they get to shore they still don't live thru it .

Maybe a pressure foot/switch or seat/switch with a perko selector switch to run in normal or auto shut off mode.....just a thought.

The best advice. Wear it no matter what or how shallow! Buy once, cry once and get quality. I have a Stohlquist and they make a good product.
