    Default Rod Floats

Do any of you guys use rod floats? The kind that strap around the rod above the reel? I was thinking about making some for my trolling rods just in case I lost one over the side. Before I go to the trouble of making them I want to know if any of you guys are using them and if you like them?

    Thanks,
    Richard

The pipe insulation works well! It’s saved me several rods since I started using it .

Have saved me a lot of money over the years. Back of the boat is the biggest concern. A stump will get a rod in seconds. Want troll with out them.

A 12' BnM PST will sink like a stone with a Shakespeare ATC 15 line counter on it, ask me how I know? I use half inch pipe insulation on my pulling rods, none on my pushing poles I'm close enough to be in control I feel.

How long of a piece of pipe insulation do you use? I’ve noticed that some of the ones online are 6” & 8” long. I’ve never used them and want to make sure if I make some they are actually big enough to float my rods if I loose one.

    Thanks again for your input!
