I know some kayakers who use them. The ones I see are around 9 inches long.

if you hold one rod in your hand firmly you wont likely lose it ……
of course when the action gets stupid and you get about of ton of crappie slime on your hands ……
lets just say it "could" happen ….

The reason I use Scotty rod holders. I'll break a line, but not lose a rod with them. They might not be as sexy as what most of you use, but if you troll for walleye and lake trout too, they work great. I have two three rod holder racks on the stern.

I use these they come in a pack of 3 for 5 or 6 bucks and they have velcro to strap them on and they work great. Name: IMG_0672.jpg

    Thanks again for your input!
I use 1/2 inch about 8 inches long. Wire tie at each end then wrap with electrical tape real tight to make as small as possible. Works for me and cheap..

Nobody likes to do this but I put my reels BEHIND the fork in my holders. It doesn't take a millisecond longer to lift off and I haven't lost one since. I lost 2 putting them in front before I wised up.
I know some holders are made different but this works on mine.

Thanks guys for your input. I’m going to make some for my rods used in the front. I have the Cumberland 360’s in the front and there is no real way to lock the rods in. The holders in the back I can put the reels behind the forks.
