some of the double seat set ups just use the center post and have there on legs to make them ajustable
Is it just me or is every glass boat deck layout, the same across the board. Iv been boat shopping and finally think its time to step up to a glass boat but every manufacture has the same front deck layout. I can afford a 18 or 19 foot boat and havent looked at 20 or 21 footers but it looks impossible to have 3 front seat posts in any of these boats because of the lid layout. Any suggestions on a CRAPPIE 3 post glass boat?

Ranger Comanches are much wider
I am kinda reluctant to say this, but on the glass boats I have looked at over last few years the Nitro boats have about the best laid out front deck for side by side fishing like we do. Couple of guides around here use them. Triton was the only company of mass produced boats that built a true drop deck side by side crappie boat on a bass hull. Sadly they were discontinued for lake of sales. Search around and you might find a good used one of those

Look how how wide the Comanche is up front
I fish from a 1998 Ranger bass boat and I installed 2 seat bases that allow the wife and myself to sit up front and spider rig. If I am alone I use the original center seat base. The rod locker lids on my boat are far enough back to allow this. I have seen many other boats that this is not possible.

I believe Big O boats will make the deck layout anyway you like. Several guys on Florida Crappie Club fish them.

Bass boats are set up now days have a flipping deck meaning it narrows down quick the last few feet. They raised the deck almost to the top of the cap, so guys running the trolling motor are as close to the noise of the boat and has less gunnel and objects to hit the lures on. It just makes for a better design for what the boat was built to do. I know some brands will do 2 maybe 3 seat bases if you order the boat new "dads buddy like his ranger 521c and ordered the boat with the standard seat base and one on each side of it to do dual seating for crappie fishing from the factory so it looked clean". It will not look as clean but you can buy seat bases and just mount them yourself. I would get ones that are powder-coated so its a cleaner look. Cut the hole for the base and 6 screws and your in business. Crappie fisherman do not tend to spend the money on brand new boats as bass fisherman so spending 100s of thousands of dollars on R&D and tooling for a crappie top cap doesn't make sense from a business outlook. I'm sure if a brand got smart and took a bass boat hull and did a option for a different top cap to with a long rod locker running down the passenger side and a front deck with a small bait well up front and a different storage lay out it would sell but probably not even close to the bass boat side of things.
