Ky Rig is a crappie rig that is pre-tied. It consists of 2 hooks tied several inches apart on droppers or loop knots with a weight of 1/4 to 2 ounces either between the hooks or on the bottom. It is used to present 2 minnows or baits in a slow, vertical presentation.
The rig originated either on KY Lake or Reelfoot Lake. The first Ky rigs I ever saw were in the 60s and tied and sold by a guide named Dutch Owens, who guided on KY Lake (then Barkley) and Reelfoot. That is subject to arguing around the coffee table. A certain professional crappie team started marketing their own version years later that is now called the Capps and Coleman Rig. Exact same product.
