    Default Issue with reel...

Just curious if anybody else has been having issues with the newer Pflueger President reels.
I have 2 of the older 6920's and have never had an issue with them. Earlier this year, Wally World had the newer versions of these reels on sale, and I bought 2 more. My only complaint with the new ones is the handle.
I just recently started using the new reels and for a reason unknown to me, the handles on both keep coming loose. Had 1 that unscrewed itself to the point it was like I just took it out of the package. I'm curious if anybody else has experienced this and if so, have you found a way to keep it from happening.

Do the handles have two sets of threads on them?

    DrFishDuck:
I've given that thought, but was hoping to not have to use loctite. Not opposed to it, but hoping for a more permanent fix.

    CatchNgrease:
I just unscrewed one to check. Appears to be only one set.

This new version doesn't have the screw that is attached to the dust cap. The shaft of the handle (that is inserted into the reel) on the older version was tapped to accept the screw from the dust cap.
The new version is not tapped.
(I'm going to take pictures of both and post them)

The handle on the left is the old version.
I didn't even realize that the handle for the new version of this reel isn't reversible... it will only screw in on the left side.

I also keep saying old version and new. The old is the President 6920 and the new is the President pressp20.
Reels appear identical, but maybe they aren't.

Watching this thread with great interest. I'm planning on getting a couple of more 6920's (if they still make them?) to add to the 4 I now have. They've always been great reels for me, so I hope Pflueger isn't going the road of Shimano!

    Crestline 08,
To be honest, when I bought the ones I am having this little issue with, I thought I was buying the 6920.
If they still make them, I sure can't find them anywhere.
If you come across anyplace that has them, keep me in your thoughts... I'd like to have a couple more myself.
In fairness, the new ones are still good reels, I'm just not as impressed with the new handle.

check package, somewhere on it it should say if it's reversible or not!

I've used Locktite on a couple of older Presidents. One in particular kept working loose. I use the removable version of Loctite.
Also put some on my DF knobs after finding them on floor of boat after a trip.
