Default Just A Great Big Thanks

I just wanted to thank the Crappie.Com Family for the Prayers during a very difficult time. After I lost my sister I sorta went into a slump I just couldn't shake. I even avoided the computer the whole time.

I hope all the funk is gone now, though I'll miss sis greatly. She and the rest of the family are all together now, and that brings some comfort. Thank you all again for the Prayers. Eric, AKA jamesdeann...

Thank you everyone. Slowly I am coming out of the funk. I've been over to the Lake Mc Danial bridge a few times. I can usually catch a couple crappie, All be it small ones, each trip. Haven't kept any, but it feels good just to get out in nature. Have to rig some kind of portable fish finder. I know folks have sunk attracters along the bridge as I have sure hung up enough. Have tried C.P.'s ( I think it was his article anyway) vertical casting of dropping the jig to the bottom and slowly cranking it up, however casting along the bridge and cranking the jig in seems to work better. Any color works great as long as it has chartreuse in it...don't matter the color or condition of the water. I'll usually stay for an hour maybe two then come back to the house. Thanks again, sometimes one just needs to put it out there...

Eric .... try the Vertical Casting method at the corners & down current face of the bridge pillars ... especially with rising water levels or in the case of a good constant current flow. The current can force them to seek refuge in the eddy, and occasionally waterlogged timber/brush is also deposited there (which also helps break up the current).
It's not a "do all - be all" method, but it is one that you can often use to coax another fish or two into biting.

I lost an older brother in the 80's - I didn't fish for 2 years. We grew up fishing together. Time heals.

DRFISHDUCK, I know the feeling all too well, I went to Germany the first time in OCT. '77 and Lost my brother the following Feb.Was later set to Ft. Lewis for a short spell, then over to Greece on a hardship tour. Got there inn June, Dad Passed in December...Both great fishing partners. Then 10 yrs later it was Mom, two yrs later my oldest sister, Now my last sibling...To say one gets used to sorrow and hardships is an understatement. I know I have not gotten completely over losing any of them...But one has to pick themselves up, dust themselves off and keep putting one foot i front of the other one. Life continues even when you want the ride to just slow down a little, it seems to speed up...I hold a lot of things in,don't show too much. One day the dam will break...
