We’re considered to be in the Deep South here but I have fished in temps as cold as 20 degrees. That’s May and October temps for some on here and never seen temps for others of you.

I’ve got a set of the Frogg Togg Pilot series rain gear. Does a great job of keeping you dry, but less than impressive with blocking the wind. If you’re worried about blocking the wind, Goretex is the way to go for sure. It sucks, it’s expensive, but it’ll keep the wind out.

Actually, I've had the opposite situation with Frogg Toggs & wind. I have a Chiller Killer snowmobile suit that I've worn in cold weather conditions and it's pretty warm when walking about or sitting still, but running down the lake ... the wind/cold seems to come right on thru it. Put on a set of FT's over it and I don't feel the wind/cold at all. (and that was using the original "pro rain suit" - jacket/pants from many years ago).
Now, they don't like extreme heat or sharp objects ... but, Duct Tape or Super Glue will patch up those "oops" damages real nice.

I got my Artic Armor suit Tuesday and I went fishing this morning. Terrible day to go fishing. Whitecaps galore. It was cold when we got there. Mid 30’s. About the same temps I fished in a week ago and half froze to death in. I didn’t even get cool much less cold while running the big motor and we did run several miles. No wind penetration with the suit. I got showered with waves 3 different times and it was awesome to be warm and dry. THANKS FOR THE RECOMMENDATIONS. I’m ordering my son a suit

    Waterproof boots a must
I like fleece-lined jeans a lot. If it's really cold or windy, I add a pair of rain pants over them.

Upper body, I usually start with a long sleeve thermal turtleneck, followed by a close knit, long sleeve cotton T-shirt. IF really cold, a thick wool blend shirt goes over that, followed by a fleece hoodie. Depending on the weather, I will either layer with a nylon rain jacket, my hooded winter jacket, or my Parka. It is VERY rare that I ever need the whole kit.

Usually, my main outfit is boots, fleece jeans, turtleneck, T-Shirt, hoodie, and rain jacket to stop wind.

IF you are in AL, you might not need to go as heavy as up here, but good clothes are a must in winter, no matter where you are.
