JIg head recommendations

unpainted, no collar, ball head jigs - 1/32, 1/24, 1/16, 3/32, 1/8 oz.
bronze hooks: #6, #4, #2, 1/0, 2/0 (no sickle)

I use Daiwa Gekkabijin jig heads out of Japan. I have them from 1/64 up to 1/9 size. The hook size range from #4 down to #10. I use them because they are as sharp as a hypodermic needle. I don’t have to set the hook with these jig heads. They will penetrate the bony part of a fish jaw when contact is made. They will penetrate your finger real quick too when removing from the pack. There is a drawback....for some anyway.....they are expensive at a buck each delivered.

I mostly use 1/24 or 1/16 with size 4 sickle hooks. When fishing deep water I go with a 1/8 with size 2 sickle hook. I paint and attach eyes to all of my jig heads but I this is more for me than the fish. I will go as light as a 1/48 or as heavy as a 3/16 if conditions require it.

I have used nothing but 1/16th oz jig heads with #2 hooks for years. I personally don't see any need for any other size. The fish don't seem to care as long as it's tipped with a black/chartreuse body. Preferable a Crappie Magnet. This combo will catch bluegill all the way down to 3 inches and crappie even smaller.

This is good, useful info for me. I fish light jigs in my small home stream, but I plan on expanding my waters this year and need to stock different sizes. Thanks!

I like a plain old round ballhead painted pink in a number 6 sickle hook myself in 1/32 on 6 lb mono
sometimes I use 1/16 in the same version as well

My preference is one of the sharpest hooks around. It also has a short shank allowing the jig to move more and comes in 1/32 and up.
