Has anybody ever used these? I have had 1 pack before and caught my share of sunfish and small bass but yet to catch a crappie on one. I'm going to a heated/brushed dock tomorrow and going to try them out and hope they produce.

A few years back when I was heavy into smallmouth bass fishing, I tried them on a drop shot. Beyond a doubt, my partner, who was using regular plastics, got hit a lot more throughout the day than I did. Another factor to consider is that once out of the bag, you have to continue using it wet. If not, they dry out quickly and become stiff. JMO.

the ones about 2 inches long in the smelt coloration are rather deadly on crappie , seen them hurt fish at the local crappie barge with them many times when others were not getting bites

I use them with a bobber float rig. They do really well late spring and summer on this type of rig under docks. I like them

When using the small gulp on a jig head, how do you hook them? In the back? Thread the bait on? Just curious as my pal fishes gulp minnows on 3/8 jig head hooked through the back for walleye.

100% - through the head. Anytime you are using soft plastics or artificial baits, always try to make that bait look and present itself to fish as natural as possible. The 2.5 inch ones in smelt color and chartreuse pepper have worked real well for me. During the spawn I have one spot that the chartreuse pepper is hands down the best bait I have seen there.
