I would run the finder you like the best, regardless of power. Any decent cranking battery should power either one just fine. I run a Helix 9 Mega+ SI G3, for me the 'bird SI is the best.
I’m currently running a helix 5, bilge, navigation lights etc to my cranking battery and have not had any issues with cranking although every once in a while my low voltage alarm (set at 10.5 volts) will go off. I do have a onboard minn Kota charging system. Off the top of my head I don’t know what size the battery is, will have to check on that when I get home but my issue is I don’t have much room in the back of my 16 ft aluminum boat to go with a bigger battery. Bass pros Black Friday deal has the helix 10 mega and the Lowrance elite 9ti on sale. The helix from what I’ve found pulls about 2.7 amps and the Lowrance pulls 0.9 amps. So question is should I go the safer route with the Lowrance or do you think my set up would get me by with the helix? I will post up my current battery when I get home.

If that battery is cranking motor even though you get low voltage alarm tells me you have a wiring issue. Run you a dedicated wire preferably a 10 gauge from battery straight to finder and I bet that problem goes away.

I have a group 31 and I run 2 birds a 798 and a helix 7, all the bilge, live well fill and recirc, and a 12v bubbler on top of being my starter battery have not had a minutes problem with it! Fish all day with no problems! Keep your battery charged and clean and all connections clean! A corroded wire can ruin a day quick

Thanks for all the replies. Cray, I’ve got my low voltage alarm set at 10.5 volts so that I don’t let it get too low. It’s an easy change, more or less just a reminder for me. It does have a dedicated wire to battery with a fuse.

I have 3 batteries in the back of the boat. I carry a short pair of jumper cables if needed. I can give the starting battery a boost off of one of the trolling batteries. It has saved a trip once. And is cheap insurance in not having to paddle an 18.5 foot bass boat.

What size electric start out board ? Is it a 2 or 4 stroke ?
Get a jump pack and put it in your boat. I have not needed mine, but did give a buddy a jump once. They aren't too much $. A good Christmas stocking stuffer, yeah?
I have a Noco GB40
