This past summer I used a one of those nylon super sacks for a motor cover and kept a mesh bag of moth balls and had no dirt daubers .
They plugged up everything else in the shed tho

Mr Google says : Damage caused by mud dauber wasps

Wasps usually evoke a great deal of anxiety or fear. However, solitary wasps such as the mud daubers do not defend their nest the way social wasps such as hornets and yellowjackets do. Mud daubers are very unlikely to sting, even when thoroughly aroused. They may sting if mishandled.
Although they are capable of stinging, mud daubers are unlikely to sting, even when disturbed. ... However, mud daubers may sting if they are mishandled or feel threatened. Like all wasps, the mud dauber can deliver multiple stings. The pain caused by the sting of most mud daubers is not considered especially painful.

Be my luck my mud daubers would have had a bad day prior to me getting involved with them.

When muzzle loader hunting in rain I put a piece op tape over the muzzle. Would work for a pole too.

    Now you tell me....

I get them all the time attached to my life vest straps and other parts on the boat, I just grab'em and chunk them into the lake.

My daughter used to think I was the best shot in the world cause I would do this with dragon flies. She thought I was shooting regular 22 bullets. Oh life was good when I was still her hero. Lol Now I'm just dad paying for college. Lol
