    Default Quality Rain Gear Needed

Do any of you guys have experience with the H20 Express rain gear from Academy. I looked at the 200mph rain gear from Bass Pro, 2 jackets and 2 bibs will cost around $1,000.00 thats a lot of coins for rain gear. The H20 gear costs a third of that, but if no good, its wasted money. Do you guys have any recommendations.

    Thanks

    No experience with H2O.
I have a set of the 100mph, and the pro qualifier, both are excellent.
If buying again I would buy the qualifier.
First I would look at Cabelas guide wear, if they still have the lifetime guarantee on the guidewear I would buy it.
My guidewear is meant for really cold so it doesn’t get used heavily, but it’s quality!
BPS usually runs a sale on the 100 mph about now I think

I too have pro qualifier from BP and purchased it over the 100mph. That said, I would take a look at military surplus or any online outlet retailer of their products. Our goretex trousers and jackets were the best quality and can usually be purchased far less in cost than ones with fancy names on them.

I still have and use two sets and wouldn't trade them for anything. The Navy's are blue camo, the Marine Corps is digital, the Army is whatever new idea they came up with this week, and the Air force doesn't work in the rain! Teasing. All the older models are woodland camo and are just as good in quality (if not better). The ECWS (extreme cold weather system) was built to zip in. Don't be confused with the stolen name of a similar product sold at Cabelas.

I have had a Milsurp gortex rain jacket for 20 years. They are good stuck also

I bought a set from Sportsman Guide on sale a few years ago. It was the "Guide Gear" model. Bib style pants and parka. Reinforced knees for kneeling on ice I guess.
Anyway they were around $150 for set. Only problem is it has to be really cold to wear them here in SC. I certainly have never been cold in them ( or wet).

I have the Guidewear angler's bibs from Cabelas, I think they are called, and I wear them with a Gore-Tex parka shell I bought over 20 years ago from REI that is still going strong. If you have a good rain shell/parka, just get the bibs. In winter, I wear UA Cold Gear thermal undies underneath. I don't get cold, even in winter rain, but then again, I'm in N GA not N Dakota so...

I have partner that fishes the H2O. He is 82. He loves them. I fish Stryker Climate bibs with a pilot II jacket from frogg toggs. No complaints either. Do some looking at the Stryker series

I have the H20 from academy. You’ll have to keep it treated with replant

I bought my dad the bass pro 100 mph 15 years ago and it’s still good. Just buy the best and be done with it imo.

I have the H2O soft fishing parka. Used it for 2 years and have no complaints. I’ve gone through a lot of rain wear over the years...cheap and high dollar. Much of it can be a crap shoot. Some folks will swear by brand so and so and others curse the brand. I don’t fish in the rain anywhere near what I did years ago but I wanted something decent when I did go. Academy has one of the most liberal return policy’s I know of.....one of the reasons I tried the H2O.

    Regards
