    Default Split Ring Plier Recommendations

Hi All. Like others here on the forum, I'm not a fan of treble hooks on lures/plugs, so much so I quit using them. I recently bought some single in line vertical hooks and want to change over my Rebel lures to singles. I don't have a pair of split ring pliers, and would like to get some recommendations. It needs to handle the smaller sized split rings such as are used on the Rebels. I saw a number of them at Cabelas but saw mixed reviews on sizes they could handle.
Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

This is pictures of a pair of inexpensive pliers I bought from BPS. They were to big for small split ring. I took them to the grinder and dressed down the longer part to fit into the smaller O ring. I have cheap and high end pliers but these are my go to.

Default Anyone Try Daiwa Small Pliers

I expanded my search and saw that Chris over at Finesse has a Daiwa Small (2 1/2") pair of split ring pliers that are designed for "00" to size "2" split rings. This is not precise but the OD of the Rebel lures is under 5 mm, which according to a size chart I was looking at would make the ring about a size "0". This sounds like it would be a good match for the smaller size lure rings I like to use on Pans/Crappies. Has anyone had any experience using this pair of pliers? I'm sure the quality would be good or Chris wouldn't stock it.
    Thanks,
    Bob

Get the Xuron 496 pliers and you will forget anybody else ever made any. You can get then for $13 on Amazon.

I bought these back in 2017 and they work flawlessly. Very durable and I've used them to replace ALL my trebles with in-line singles. The crappie love them single hooks! These may be a tad costly, but the quality is there for sure:

hobby lobby usually have several pairs, easy to handle to see the quality or lack of. Xuron are very good, if you are ordering online.

I lose them before I find out if I love them. I can tell you that the springs come out of the Rapala brand ones. Which I hate and is probably the reason I'm on season 4 with them!
