Line spooling

Anybody use this? At first I wasn't crazy about it but the more I use it the more I like it.

I usually put a large book/catalogue on the floor with a weight on it, and run the line through the pages near bottom...adds tension; I also add tension thru my fingers at same time

Me too. That is what I've done for 50 years. I like this thing because you don't have a long pole sticking out and line wrapped around the end from line twist.

I do and I love! It's really for spinning reels. It does work!

I bought one and think it reduces line twist a lot when spooling. Any spin reel inherently adds twist, no matter what you do, unless you use a machine that turns the spool off the reel to fill. I am cobbing up an attachment for my cordless drill to do exactly that, and will be adding a level wind mechanism. I'm just waiting for my machinist friend to get around to making my parts.

If you use the lock screw on the back it stops rotating so you can use baitcasters

I don't run the line thru every guide when re-spooling a reel, just the first guide. If I see the line loops starting to shorten in length, I flip the spool over and continue reeling.

I'm wondering, though, about this product ... basically it spins the line spool as line is pulled off & onto the spinning reel, but I'm curious about the direction of spin. Normally my line spools have to be turned upside down (label side down) in order for the line to come off them & go on the reel correctly ... but not "always", as some brands do seem to be spooled or labeled opposite to that. My curiosity is about whether or not that line spooling gizmo "could" possibly spool the line onto the reel in the "wrong direction" ... thus creating line twist throughout the entire spinning reel spool, and you not know about it until you cut the line & open the bail ?? Or are the "gears" reversible to make the line spool turn in the other direction ??

I bought one this past summer and love it. It really does reduce line twists when you get it dialed in. It look a little time tinkering with it before I figure it out. I recommend for sure.
