    Default Shallow Landing Net Recommendations

Hi All. I am a small stream wade fisherman asking for recommendations for a small landing net. I have avoided them in the past because they can be a PITA at times, but with the coming of an expensive rod I need to protect the rod better. Right now with my UL TSS I run my hand down the line near the lure and lift out the fish that way to take the stress off of the rod. I am looking for a lightweight shallow net that would handle 95% Pans and Crappies, with a few 10-12 in smallies and trout thrown in the mix. The hoop can be wood or aluminum, but I'm looking for small and lightweight.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations and sources. I have been checking the internet, but so far didn't see anything jump out at me. Maybe a smaller manufacturer will have what I need.
    Thanks,
    Bob C

I bought a wooden trout net off of Amazon. Attaches to my fly vest with a spring cable and then has a set of self aligning magnets to keep it up until needed. I have it attached to the vest between my shoulder blades. Works out very well

Both Bass Pro and Cabelas carry them in the $17-$30 range. Search for “trout net”. If you can’t find, make sure to look in the fly fishing section.

When i get some time in the wood shop I am going to make a boat net from oak and poplar. I will order the rubber net basket to go in it. I made a stream version last year

Rubber netting is supposed to be better for the fish also by not distributing the slime layer as much. Kind of a moot point on fish destined for the hot oil bath. But for those who release fish it is good
