As long as they are eaten I don't care how many anybody keeps. I only keep 5-10 a week to eat but sometimes I will give fish to friends who can't fish. I also give fish to other fishermen who are not having a good catching day.

Like Ketchn, I'm too lazy to clean a lot of fish so those that receive them from me must clean the fish themselves. It's surprising how many people who ask for fish don't want them when you tell them they must clean them.

It's very rare that I catch 50 crappie in a day, but unless I only catch 1 or 2 i normally keep them, i eat crappie a lot. And i give a lot away to my family and in-laws. But if I could go out and catch a limit of 50 every time I went. I probably wouldn't keep them, I don't like it to sit in the freezer very long, and if it does I feel like it's waisted and I kept fish that somebody else might have eaten right then

Much like others mention, enough to eat fresh. Usually 5-15 depending on size and amount of folks staying for supper

a good point EZ , I remember when I used to fill the ice chest and offer them to family members and several said never mind the second time I offered them if they were not filleted
I even had one tell me 15 wasn't enough to drive 4 miles to come pick up
the giving away of fish for me is sometimes a lot of work when ice is needed in large amounts to keep them until I get to where i drop them.
And to top it off i have NEVER had a single soul offer me a dime for the ice i bought to ice down the fish i gave them
yet more reasons to let them swim on ….

I keep enough to make a meal for my wife and I. I have quit hunting all together this year because of health reasons, inability to pull a bow back, can’t wrestle with the deer carcass and my wife won’t eat venison. Just yesterday my wife commented that she never thought she would see the day I would quit hunting.

Anymore it is just exciting to be able to get out and enjoy the lakes and catch a few even if we put them back.

I keep very few. I like fried food but it don't like me much. If we are camping in the fall or winter I like to catch them and fry them up for supper that night. Seems to taste better to me that way.

I live in Oklahoma and the State limit is 37 each person has been this for ever . Some lakes are 15 fish @ 10" fish, wish this was state wide.
I have been Crappie fishing for 54 years. With the advancement of fishing equipment and a lot more people fishing need to spread the fish around!!!
