    Default ? 36v trolling motor

I know this is a electronics question but thought I put it here on main board to get some advice. Okay what are the pros & cons of a 36v trolling motor over the 24v motor. Your answers be appreciated. I mostly just want to hear about Minn Kota.

    Two things
First you can get 36v in higher thrust than 24v
Second....you get more hours run time with 36v

I use a 24v 70 lb thrust on my boat and I can pull crankbaits at 1.8 mph continuous for 8 hrs and still have some battery left.

The guys with heavier boats than mine use 36v 110 lb thrust to get 8 hrs time out of theirs pulling crank baits.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Really depends on the weight of your boat. I only have a 24v on a 17' tracker. I have never been underpowered or ran out of juice. Even after all day trolling. It's a match the tool for the job kinda thing.

36 volt equals a max of 112# thrust is the pro, the con need three 12 volt batteries that equals more weight, more compartment space.
24 volt minn kota will be 80# max thrust the con, but only need two 12 volt batteries, less weight and expense obviously.
All depends on the size of the vessel it's going on and the type of fishing you intend to do. Batteries make up a big part of the equation as well. I have a Ultrex 24v 80# on a heavily loaded 18 foot glass boat and can pull cranks at 1.8 mph for 8 hours, I can spider rig or single pole for days on the same setup before needing a charge. I'm a firm believer a longer shaft on the TM makes a difference, I run a 60".

Snubby that is what I run now The terrova 80 with a 54 inch. I will be going with the Ulterra and trying to see if I need the 36v. I do lot of cranking ,long lining and spider rigging. I believe the 36 will help me stay longer on the cranking. I've got a 481 Ranger and it is pretty heavy.

Snubby is spot on !!! also the type batteries you use has a lot to do with it as well !!! with your boat and the Ulterra with the right batteries you can pretty much go 24 volts
!!! now with the 36 volts you shouldn't have any worries except paying for the batteries !!!

Go with the 36v u will be glad you did! My thoughts it’s better to have too much juice and not have to run it wide open than have less juice and run it on the max on high windy days!

Good deal, pulling crank baits bore me bigtime anymore, rather watch paint dry, I rather catch em" with a hook set in my opinion. I digress though, get a yourself a 3 group 31 batteries setup and a 36 volt system and roll on!! That 481 won't ever need for nothing, besides catching fish!
