My shop/garage door is taking a beating with me practicing the technique. I can get about 30 feet from the door with the exact set-up I fish with, hook intact. Concrete and water are different but I try to skip the jig a couple of times before it hits the door. We have floating docks on KY and Barkley Lakes but some folks drop bucket beds and brush inside the slips in areas where low water won't be a problem. I side-scan the docks I plan on fishing to find the ones that have structure that is holding fish. I point my rod directly at my target then pull straight back under the rod. My hand is usually just about even but under the reel . I hold the jig head unless I'm using a tiny head like a 1/32. then I'll hold the hook bend.
