Default Looking For Feedback On Stradic FL

Want to get a high quality reel for a 5' G. Loomis IMX and have narrowed it down to either the Stradic FL or CI4+. I went to Cabela's and ofc they had the CI4+ but not the FL... I am really struggling between the two especially considering there will likely be a new CI4+ soonish I would imagine but waiting and hoping isn't really an option. Should I get the new FL and save $30 despite the .9oz weight difference or go with the CI4+? Really wish I could try both but that isn't possible at the moment.

I have both and to me, there is no big differences. I actually have the FL's on my newer rods that I use all the time and havnt used the cI4 much in the past few years

Thanks, starting to look like I should just grab the FL and save $30.

Take your rod with you to the store and see how the reel balances with it. I don't own either reel, but I was thinking the CI4+ just because it's lighter. Your rod is so light, that might make a difference.

Do you really think that less than 1 ounce would even be noticeable? I know I couldn't seem to notice it when trying out the reels they had on the display handles at Cabela's but the handles were already pretty heavy all on their own which may have threw off perception a bit. If I could take my rod in and try both out somewhere I'd be all set but sadly my lame Cabela's carries the CI4+ but not the FL or even the FK... I weighed my size 20 Pflueger president today and it weighs 6.4oz with the FL weighing 6.5 I would think that reel would be a pretty good indicator for a heavier reel. Thanks for the advice disco.

I don't think it would be that noticeable, but it might be the only difference you would notice. If the CI4+ feels good on the rod, I'd just go with that. From the comments above, I don't think there will be much of a difference in performance. Good luck!
Thanks R Shackelford thanked you for this post
