the 2 what I think are the largest white crappie I ever managed were both from the bank in an agricultural water body .
No one but me wet a line in it for 25 or more years .
I cut fishing line off my reel and measured its length and girth knowing it would give me a good idea how big that fish was .
it was a late spring female and my wife who was with me at the time said that's the biggest crappie I have ever seen .
she took a few photos of it and I let it swim on as I had 3 smaller 12 inch range fish already on my stringer headed home with us for dinner and that's was all we needed and I couldn't bring myself to kill such a specimen in my own little honey hole for sure .
this fish was estimated at between 3.8 and 4.4 lbs and I have never ever been called a liar as much as I was for ketching that fish and letting it go and not killing in and getting it to a certified scale .
the fish is my avatar photo btw ….
so will I ever be on the list of recognition ….not likely as I aint that guy , hence my online nick name and loss of my real name except in certain circles ….
but none the less that's a for sure monster crappie he got and congrats to him
and yes if you are after a world record its likely in a spot no one else is looking and or has very limited access
I recently loaded a short video about how skills trump technology all day long on my little you tube channel
on a final note bank ketchers rule in my book ….

My biggest to date was 2 pounds 14 ounces. I got so excited when It came to the surface I slipped off the rocks iand into the water. It was 19 degrees that night. I couldn't begin to think of how big a 5 pound crappie looked

    massive fish for sure.

I think it unfortunate that people can raise fish in ponds that are valid "record" fish. it shuts out all but a small percentage of the fortunate anglers with access to these feeder ponds.
