Lake record ALERT !

I want to start off saying "potential" lake record alert . This fish got to be set free after a few photos . The lake I was on has no black crappie lake record and very few black crappie in it . So you see a pretty nice one just under 14 inches could be a lake record if I had the mindset to do so .
The local authorities that oversee the fishery used to tell me 4 or 5 years ago there wasn't any black crappie in that lake . I told them I had managed a few tiny ones occasionally even though they never seemed present before that . They told me I was likely confused and they were probably just male white crappie . I tried to explain to them I for sure at a glance can tell the difference but none the less it persisted until ……
I took a 10.5 inch one about 2 years later to the office and had them do the 14 color glossy photos and fin ray counts and have it sent to Austin to have it verified
So fast forward to yesterday , The black crappie that are present in there are rather elusive and many trips back to back produce zero black crappie in there .
The fall and very early spring seem to have them show up for a bit here and there and the rest of the year they go missing in action .
So even though on some social media sites there are them hater keyboard commandos with all kinds of sideways comments and ugly remarks where I made the mistake of posting the story and telling a bit about it are out there with even "professional" crappie fishing trolls in them ….
( I might mention I am leaving those sites daily due to the administrations lack of keeping them friendly )
I thought this story and fish might be accepted well here
This fish I think was a male fish due to its slender build and was in around 12 foot of water about 10 foot down and hit the jig like a mad black bass . It fought really well and it even got to do selfies and such with me and then on its way it went back to hiding out in the lake like they do so well .
I managed another one that was much paler and about 12 inches long and very deep bodied I would think was a female about 25 feet away right before I hooked this one as well .

one more thing , it was taco Tuesday at my house last night and the crispy crappie tacos were NOT the fish I managed yesterday

don't let the haters and trolls get you down Outlaw. They have so little to do in their pitiful lives but to trash those who try and contribute something useful. Is why this site is so awesome.

Yeah not hard to tell a white from a black but if they have their minds made up hard to change it. Nice fish and story as always and yes Kaboom IS the word!

That is a nice looking Black Crappie, they may start hybridizing with the White Crappie though, happens here a lot. The Tacos look good as well.
