    Default Crappie Trolling Rods?

I am looking for a couple of Crappie trolling rods that have a very soft tip, and mid section that are 12-14 feet long. Up in the Nort country not many places carry this type of rod so hard to get a feel for rods that I cannot handle. So I am asking here for recommendations as being I will have to order them I would rather not make a mistake and hopefully get what I need the first time.

I troll with any where from a number 5 Shadrap to flies to no3Bandits to adding an ounce to 2 ounces when Crappie are deep at speeds of .6 to 2.5mph.. It`s asking a lot of one rod to fit these different scenarios, but it is what I have to contend with. My current rods are to stiff as I loose a fair amount of fish reeling them in as slow as I can as they are too stiff.

What rods are you running now if you don’t mind me asking??

If your looking for a super soft sensitive tip the Capps and Coleman’s are great but I wouldn’t run 2 ozs in them... I have a set of ozark rods 14’ signature series and I run will push anything from a single 1/4 oz jig head spider rigging to 1.5oz power trolling

I would go with the Jenko Slab City or Spider Troll, depending on your price. Grizzly jig has the best prices.

I run the BnM PST from 12’-18’ and do all above what you described. I run up to 3 oz weights on them and pull cranks or jigs on them. I also push cranks and jigs with them. And to be that stout of a rod they have a decent tip on them.

Give Ed Duke at Southern Crappie Rods a call. He has his regular weigh rods that are available up to 16’. They are great for long lining, spider rigging or pulling cranks. For 2 oz or heavier weights he has the “T” series. His rods are second to nobody and Ed is the nicest guy you will ever deal with.

If your actually trolling behind boat at any speed, I’m thinking part of your problem is not your rod. Try speeding up your retrieve once you hook a fish with a crank. Pull him in fast enough you get him on surface and then sky them in. You will find you loose a lot fewer fish that way.

Life got in the way and haven`t been able to get back to this post.

What I have now are really jigging poles 1 is a BNM BGJP 122-n and the other is a BGJP 102-n that I have been using for trolling, not designed for what I am using them for. that is why I feel there are better rods for trolling.

One of the things very important to me is having a soft enough tip to be able read the slender type crankbaits if they are running clean or not.
