Several good lakes around Lake Kissimmee in Lake Wales

Hi folks. Yup this is my first post since signing up with Crappie.com. I need some good advice or information.
My wife and I are planning a FL. trip sometime in Jan next year. I have no idea where to go. I would prefer a smaller lake South of Jacksonville with some decent accommodations. If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations I would surely welcome your advise. Thanks in advance for your help.

Did you pass up Lake Talquin on purpose. This would probably get more traffic on the main crappie forum

Lake Talquin just west of Tallahassee, Lake Crescent, Astor, Deland, all have accommodations on the water. Not sure of any smaller lakes with accommodations, most of the smaller lakes are private per say with houses built around with no real access. But the St. Johns river system has multiple places from Palatka all the way down through Orange City. If you have an RV lots of campgrounds around as well.

You can call River Bend Condominiums,Welaka and see what units are open 102A might be. It’s located on the Saint Johns River on the north edge of little lake George with their own ramp, docks and in closed fish cleaning station.

May all the fish tales you catch be longer than the ones you tell !kyangler thanked you for this post
Ga Boys fish camp in Satsuma.. access to St Johns River, south of Palatka.. 20 min ride to Welaka... Dunns Creek to Crescent Lake 10 min. Fish for Crappie, catfish, bream, bass, some mixed in occasional Flounder, Blue Crabs.
There's places in Crescent City , I think Crescent Lake Resort if you go that route

Welaka is about 1 1/2 hours s/w of Jacksonville along the Saint Johns. Our daughter n family live about 45 min west of Jacksonville so this is a great location.
