Crappie are NEVER done, they're just harder to catch different times of year
Went to our crappie lake today and res is way down. Part I like to fish the water is 4' to 6' or so deep. Boat ramp isn't gonna work much longer they keep pulling the water out. Did end up with 25 fish for about 2 1/2 hr so worked out all right there. Fish were mostly 10+inch's, big improvement over earlier when they were right at 8". Gonna start earlier next year. Like soon as the boat ramps open. Used two ultra light rods today, it was a blast with those bigger fish. Hope the hold over get's us some bigger fish next year. Really amazing how much bigger the filet's are with these fat 10" fish. Bad part about the res is it's a 2 hr drive from here one way!

fishing only gets better with low pool. go find new spots. even better take pics of the good areas exposed by low pool.

I'd been planning on fishing them through the winter but doesn't look like I;ll be able to get the boat in the lake. Really really getting low. I guess I could start bank fishing for them but a lot of lake it would take a long time to get to walking.
kayak or canoe would be highly portable

I was thinking canoe. I have a 16' Coleman only problem is it's pretty heavy. Might see if I can get close enough with my pickup to get there.
There are some diy wheel kits for canoes and kayaks on Youtube

A kayak cart will save your back & prevent a lot of aggravation.
It's all about desire, you gotta want to.
The fishing when the water's low won't be much better. You think you were happy with the 10" fish you caught...there's bigger out there.
