Default Monday Morning Fishing Trivia #15

Two fishing buddies out west came up with a idea back in 1920 and they started a tackle company. It is still in business today under the same name. Who were these men? I will give a hint later on today and will give the answer and the story tonight.

Well, most of you got it. It was Drew McGill and Stan Wright. The company name was Wright & McGill Co. They came up with a new idea and hook design that they called Eagle Claw and they registered Eagle Claw as a Company Trademark.
What is interesting is McGill was fishing one morning and was not doing well the trout were rising but hard to hook. He got to watching some eagles and one landed on a dead tree. He paid attention to how the eagles talons caught and hooked into the wood. He took one of his fish hooks and drug it over the leather strap on his fishing creel and it made a mark but did not catch or stick. After some thought he went to work on one of his fish hooks with a pair of pliers. After bending the hook into a shape that was like the eagles talons. He dragged that over the leather strap and it stuck in the leather and a new company was born. Today this company is the only fish hook manufacturer in the U.S.A.
I hope you enjoyed this Monday Morning Fishing Trivia....Stay tuned for #16 next Monday.
