I won't answer any number that I don't know..... You can leave a message and if I feel the need to call you back well we'll talk.... In this case I'd be talkn to my son.....
Scammers are getting very bad here lately....

the world is flat full of trash of all varieties and to be sure it seems to get worse daily . I am like SK and trained my wife to be the same way . If I know the number as in your name or someone I know comes up on the display I will likely answer it .
If not I will likely wipe it away after it rings once or twice . that said I do like the new att thing where they inform you about half or more of them being fraudulent calls . one glance and it says Fraud Alert ,Scam Alert , Telemarketer and that at least lets me know for sure its bunk .
otherwise leave a message or I will likely avoid any dialogue with the number involved .AND
I do NOT need an extended warranty on any of my vehicles from Pakistan by the way if you are out reading this in Pakistan ….just saying

I try and usually scan my phone calls before answering. Now lately I’ve been having MY PHONE NUMBER calling me on my phone!!! Nothing fishy about that huh..... I answered it one time just to see and it went into one of those recorded spammy things so I hung up.
Horrible but bad times are here! Sad, Sad
Unless your name is on my phone list, I don't answer. And if you leave a message, it best be in ENGLISH (I got a couple of calls that left messages & the lady spoke in some Asian language )
Recent calls have hung up before the ring tone had barely begun. I usually check those numbers online .... most of which are spoofed local numbers, or calls from places I wouldn't know anyone or never heard of (like the calls I got from France, or Guinea-Bissau). I even got a text one time, telling me my food was ready for pickup ... problem was, it was from somewhere in Louisiana

Scammers are getting more and more sophisticated. I just don't answer unless the number is in my contacts.

This is the latest scam trick. They call you and hang up when you answer. They are banking on your curiosity to return the call to see who was calling you. Like SK I never answer a number I don't recognize. But since they now spoof numbers in your calling list that doesn't always work.
The telephone companies could shut this down since they now warn that the call is probably spam. But that would impact their bottom line so they allow thousands of seniors to get scammed since seniors are usually the ones being targeted and the ones most vulnerable to this type call.

Any day I'm fishing is a good day, regardless of what I catch.
The problem is they don’t do anything to these people when they do catch them. Fry a few and the rest will stop doing it. Hate a thief.
