    Default Blue Green Algae

What’s your thoughts about eating fish from lakes that have blue green algae in them. My local lakes have advisory out on them, they are open to use and not closed. I have friends that have eaten fish from lakes with advisories on them for years... The health department is saying ok to eat in moderation and that eating the flesh is ok and try to not cut into guts when cleaning. What’s everyone’s thoughts on this?

I'd find another lake to fish.

I think a new place to fish would be a good idea
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along

Algae eating fish develop a high concentration of thiamine (Vitamin B-1). A little will do you good. Too much has killed gators in Florida. Sport fish eat the
algae eaters (shad, carp, etc.) and their concentration goes up. I'm still eating them but am not in a restricted area. Are they safe, I don't know. I am eating
fish from a mercury advisory lake.
    Tell'em I'll be there.
