    Default Good budget headlamp recommendations?

I’m in the market for new headlamp and want to know what you guy are using. The requirements for me are, not too expensive, have red light not SOS mode, easy to switch or turn on and off, light weight and of course good brightness.

Interested in seeing the recommendations. I have some streamlights that I like but they do have the SOS and no red light. Don't use the sos and would like the option of a red lens. Overall they are very light weight, run on three AAA batteries. Very bright. I believe I purchased them at REI.

I have three, one that I use all the time for bass, bright enough but no red light. The other one with separate battery compartment, it is brighter but not comfortable to wear at all, and recently just got another with red light mode, but this darn switch is hard to turn on and off and have to circle through all the modes. I use red light mode and leave it on for crappie fishing at night to remove hook, check lures or black lash without turn on the bright light.

Energizer from Wally World...the newer models are $19 I believe and have red light and three brightness options. If you leave it on one setting for a few seconds the next click turns it off. Great for the money and I love the instant off option they added. My problem is I go through about 3 a winter duck hunting when I forget that are on my head and take my hat off and hear them Splash.

Fenix head lamps are pretty awesome. I’ve bot several for gifts and for myself and would recommend them.

I’ve never had good luck with a budget headlamp
They all fail after about 6 mo.
I have a Petzl that was about $39 that is 5 + years old that works like new and the band is still like new as well.

I've been using the quantums from Harbor freight... don't fit your criteria as they have the sos mode, but they work pretty well.. I've got 4 I use for either fishing or working on stuff. Have held up good and are bright.
I would like a red light myself

End up ordered Coast FL74 instead. This one come with both red and green light (still don’t know when to use green light), 400 lumen with adjustable beam plus separate switch for red light. Will see how it turn out.
